24-Hour Instructor Development Program
The IALEFI Patrol Rifle Instructor Course (PRI) is a comprehensive three-day training program designed for individuals who are currently certified firearms instructors and want to develop instructor-level proficiency with the law enforcement patrol rifle platform.
This course provides advanced instruction on the operation, handling, and training methodologies required to effectively teach patrol rifle programs within a public safety environment.
Using proven adult learning methodologies, this program enhances the teaching capabilities of firearms instructors through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on drills, and instructor-level performance exercises.
Participants begin with foundational rifle handling and safety principles before progressing into instructor-level skill development focused on efficient operational performance and effective student instruction.

Course Completion Requirements
To successfully complete the course, participants must:
- Pass a written examination with a minimum score of 80%
- Successfully complete a performance-based patrol rifle course of fire
Student Equipment Requirements
Participants should arrive prepared with the following equipment:
Patrol Rifle Equipment
- Law enforcement duty patrol rifle (rifle or pistol caliber acceptable)
- Rifle sling
- Minimum 3 rifle magazines capable of holding at least 20 rounds
- 600 rounds of duty or training rifle ammunition
- Shooting mat or ground cover for zeroing exercises
Handgun Equipment
- Law enforcement duty pistol and holster
- Minimum 3 pistol magazines with magazine pouch
- 200 rounds of duty or training handgun ammunition
Personal Protective Equipment
- Wraparound eye protection
- Hearing protection
- Brimmed hat
- Range appropriate training clothing
- Inclement weather gear
Additional Items
- Hydration fluids and snacks
- Small notebook
- Pen and jumbo marker
