Advanced Continuing Education for Firearms Instructors

The IALEFI Master Instructor Development Program (MIDP) is a three-day continuing education program designed specifically for individuals who are already certified firearms instructors.

Unlike traditional firearms training courses, the MIDP is not a shooting school. Instead, it focuses on helping experienced instructors become more effective communicators, coaches, and educators when teaching critical gunfight-winning skills.

This advanced program emphasizes instructor development across the three primary law enforcement firearm platforms:

  • Handgun
  • Shotgun
  • Patrol Rifle

Participants will explore proven training methodologies that improve how instructors present information, coach students, and develop effective firearms training programs within their agencies.

Through a combination of classroom instruction, practical exercises, and demanding live-fire training, attendees will refine both their instructional approach and operational skills.

The program is designed to challenge instructors of all experience levels while providing tools that improve the quality of training delivered to officers in the field. Ultimately, the goal of MIDP is to help instructors create more effective training environments that contribute to greater officer safety and operational readiness.

Live-fire exercises can be physically demanding, and participants should be in good physical condition prior to attending.
