Close Quarter Handgun/AR 15 Techniques
Variety of drills to improve trigger control and manipulation, high speed/close quarter handgun shooting with one and two hands, alternative sighting techniques, malfunction drills, firing handgun from below eye level at extreme close quarters, modified kneeling/high prone position, close quarter sighting and shooting with AR 15, AR 15 malfunction and transition drills, firing from modified kneeling and prone position, one handed/wounded shooter firing of AR 15, shooting on the move with both handgun and rifle.

Instructor: Sgt. Chuck Haggard currently serves as the Sergeant for patrol/tactical response team, with 15 years law enforcement, 11 years tactical team, and 14 years military experience. He currently serves as the department’s primary defensive tactics/OC instructor, tactical team/officer survival tactics instructor, Taser/less-lethal instructor and firearms instructor in handgun, shotgun, and tactical rifle. He is a certified armorer for Glock, Colt AR 15, S&W, Beretta, Remington 870, and Mossberg shotgun. A competitive shooter in IPSC and in military.  He was awarded the US Army Excellence In Marksmanship Award. A Instructor-trainer for the National Law Enforcement Training Center and Monadnock PR-24/MEB. 

Student requirements:  Handgun with duty or other safe strong side holster, magazine pouch and three magazines, approx 300 rounds handgun ammo, magazine fed semi-auto rifle/carbine with tactical sling and three magazines, AR 15 type strongly preferred due to manipulation drills and shooting techniques/drills used, 100-200 rounds rifle ammo, knee pads very strongly recommended.
 

 

One-Hand Shooting Drills
Multiple situations may arise in deadly force confrontations in which the police officer will have only one hand available to operate his firearm.  The officer may be wounded or otherwise injured.  The officer’s other hand may be engaged in a multitude of other tasks.  Shooting various drills one handed will help build the skills necessary to address these situations.

Instructor: Detective Morgan is currently assigned as firearms instructor with the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office in Topeka Kansas.

Student requirements: Duty leather gear, duty weapon, 500 rounds ammo and soft body armor is recommended.

 

Shooting on the Move Techniques
Shooting and moving is one of the most important survival tactics a police officer can have. This course will show different techniques and tactics for marksmanship and survival while moving and shooting at stationary and moving targets. It will also give you new ideas on how to set up a low cost moving target systems.

Instructor: Sgt. Dave Thomas is a 20 year veteran of the Topeka Police Department  assigned to Training unit as Rangemaster/Armorer & Tactical Operations. He has 15 years experience as a sniper, 3 years as Team leader and Sniper Team Leader. Dave has instructor certifications in Police pistol/shotgun, Tactical rifle, Tactical Handgun, Less Lethal and Sniper Instructor.

Student requirements: Duty leather gear, duty weapon, 250 rounds ammo.

 

 
Ultimate Shotgun
Increase your instructor skills and confidence to an incredible level with law enforcement's most versatile weapon. Increase accuracy while reducing reaction to shoot time drastically. Included are instructor techniques for economy and motion, action vs. reaction, human phenomena, quick target acquisition, and aggressive mind and body. Winning the fight is stressed from the point of perception through second sight. Handgun transition, emergency sling, and select slug are included in this class of fun, intensity, and performance.

Instructor: Brian D. Hoffner is the lead instructor for the Houston Police Firearms Tactical Training. Brian is also president of Hoffners LTD: Maker of high quality holster gear and provider of an intense and innovative training program including empty hands, tactical knife and firearms. With a military and law enforcement career spanning twenty four years, Brian continues a full time role in the engineering designing and instruction of the Houston Police Firearms Tactical Training Program.

Student requirements: Shotgun, pump or semi-automatic, duty weapon and support gear, 100 rounds of heavy trap or 00 Buck, 10 rounds slug, 10 rounds pistol ammunition.

  • Participants are asked to report to the Topeka Police Range located at 6255 SE California at 0730 on April 14, 2003 for final check-in. 
  • All range activities require a hat, wrap around eye protection and ear protection. The use of soft body armor during training is recommended.
  • All participants who have not completed an IALEFI® safety check will be required to do so.
Eligibility: Attendees must be a member of IALEFI® or a certified law enforcement officer.
THIS CONFERENCE IS LIMITED TO THE FIRST 40 people who send in their registration and conference fee or purchase orders etc. IALEFI® will invoice your Department and/or agency if so requested.
