Off Duty / Concealment Carry

Course Description:  This course will address a number of vital concerns facing the plainclothes / off duty officer.  Topics to be addressed will inlcude types of concealed carry, off duty carry, plain clothes survival tactics and techniques, weapon presentation from concealment and various practice drills

Instructors Mark Fricke is a 27 year law enforcement veteran, an NRA Law Enforcement Adjunct Staff Tactical Firearms Instructor and a Train the Trainer for Arizona Post.

Student requirements: Handgun, concealment holster, covering garment, spare magazines or speedloaders, 150 rounds of ammunition


New Trends in Body Armor & Holsters

Course description:   Firearms Instructors should be part of the process when procurring safety equipment.  This course will examine technological advances in body armor, and holster design.  At the conclusion of training particiaptes will be better prepared to make sound recommendations to their agency relative to this vital equipment.

InstructorPaul Adamowski is a retired FBI Agent with an extensive background in firearms training and is currently a representative of Armor Holdings.

Introduction to 12 Gauge Less Than Lethal Kinetic Munitions
Neil Keegstra
Course Description: This course will explore the abilities of less lethal shotgun munitions and their application for patrol and special purposes.

Instructor – Neil Keegstra has been a New Jersey Police Office and Firearms Instructor for 22 years.  He is the co-inventor for the Superstar Less Lethal Projecticle and is a principal for the Lightfield Less Lethal Research in Freehold New Jersey.

Close Quarters Reactive Pistol
John Beehner & John Gobbels

Course Description:  This fast paced course will challenge every level of shooter.  Steel targets will be utilitized and students will engage them at distances from 8 to 25 yards.  Drills will work on accuracy, speed and cover.  Simple and multiple shots along with draws and reloads under stress.

InstructorsJohn Beehner is a full-time police officer with the Monroesville Police Dept. in Pennsylvania.  He has been a firearms instructor for 10 years and also serves as an adjunct instructor with the NRA Law Enforcement Division.  
John Gobbels
is a part time office with the Clanton Pennsylvania Police Department.  He has been a firearms instructor for 9 years and is the ower of Pennsylvania Defense Consultants, LLC.


Student requirements: Pistol, 3 magazines, duty gear and 400 rounds of ammunition

Course Description:  Cultural myths provide the glue that binds people together.  From myths and stories, we learn the do's and don'ts of our group - where we came from and where we are going.  It is our responsibility as law enforcement professionals to explore our shared traditions and beliefs.  Yes, we have our sacred cows, too!!  Will blunt force trauma kill you?  How important is a speed relaod to an officer's survival?  What level of fitness does a career in law enforcement require?  Bring your questions, thoughts and most closely held beliefs.  We will shine our Streamlights on them.

Instructor
– Dr. Rocco Mazza was a police officer for 34 years.  Throughout his career Rocco served in a varitey of assignments, including patrol detective, K-9, and training.  He was also a SWAT Commander for many years.  He is presently an adviser tot he New Jersey Police Training Commission.

  • Participants are asked to report to The N. J. Conservation Officer’s training center at 0730 hrs. on the 20th for final check-in.

  •     Directions: From north N.J., New York, New England: NJ Turnpike south to exit 7A. Take Rt. 195 East to Exit 16.  Take Rt. 537 south to Rt. 539. Make left on Rt. App. 2 miles past speedway on the left. The road after the speedway is Colliers Mills Road. Make left, go 0.9 miles and enter Colliers Mills WMA. Go 200 yards bare right through gate to range.

  • Directions: South NJ/PA: Rt. 70 to Rt. 539 North. Go approx. 8 miles; look for Colliers Mills Road on left. (4th blacktop road past Rt. 70) make right and follow above directions.

  • All range activities require a hat, wrap around eye protection and ear protection. The use of soft body armor during training is recommended.
  • All participants who have not completed an IALEFI® safety check will be required to do so.
Eligibility: Attendees must be a member of IALEFI® or a certified law enforcement officer. THIS CONFERENCE IS LIMITED TO THE FIRST 50 people who send in their registration and conference fee or purchase orders etc. IALEFI® will invoice your Department and/or agency if so requested.
Cost: Member               $150.00  - until April 10, 2006
Non-member       $205.00   - until April 10, 2006
Note:   Non-member conference fee includes one year of Associate Membership to IALEFI® (Full membership with approved credentials).
