The Physiological Response to Stress in
Close Quarter Shooting and Training To Deal With It
Sgt. Joseph Ferrera, Southfield Police Department Course: This course will look at the difference between spontaneous and predictable shootings and the brain and bodies reactions to them. We will then look at techniques to use in close quarter spontaneous shootings that maximize human performance capabilities under high levels of stress (live or die stress). These techniques will then be practiced on the range live fire. Bring: Duty weapon and 3 loading devices (pistols or revolvers), Along with approximately 400/500 rounds of ammunition. |

Tactical Shotgun
Detective James Adamcheck Director of Training, Southfield Police Department Course: This course will look at the basic use of the shotgun and its application on the street. We will look at different shotgun drills that you can do with your officers to make them more proficient and confident in the application of a shotgun. Bring: 12 gauge shotgun, Duty weapon and 3 loading devices (pistols or revolvers), Along with approximately 50 rounds of 12 gauge slug, 150 round of “00” or light load 12 gauge, and approximately 50 rounds of pistol ammunition. |

Tactical Considerations for the Patrol

Sgt. Peter Simmerling Southfield Police Department Course: Instructors will be trained on advanced tactics for often neglected issues such as shooting on the move, multiple targets, partially exposed targets, use of cover and magazine changes. Note: course will involve stress shooting and will be physically demanding. Bring: Patrol rifle (w/sling), 300 rounds rifle ammunition, handgun (w/holster), 100 rounds handgun ammunition, eye protection, vest, hearing protection and baseball type hat and A.P.R. |
