Objective Based Training for the Firearms Instructors
Rance Deware
, SIGARMS Academy
Course Description:  The foundation of Objective Based Training is simple, believable, and easily reproducible teaching methods that are non arguable and show immediate results.  NOTHING is new, technically speaking.  A great deal is new in presentation, demonstration and expected results.  The application of Objective Based Training will allow Firearms Instructors to reduce training time, rounds expended and remedial students. The following sequences of listed learning events are logically sequenced but by no means hard and fast in their presentation.  To move from one step to another the student should understand why and how the concept works as well as be able to perform the step when called upon to do so.  One step leads to another and cumulatively to the desired result.

Instructor Bio: Rance Deware has over 20 years experience as an educator and instructor.  Prior to working at the SIGARMS Academy he was a municipal police officer and retired as a Patrol Sergeant.  Rance is internationally recognized as a Use of Force Instructor, teaching firearms, aerosol spray, impact weapon, Instructor Development, Counterterrorism and Interactive Use of Force courses.

Student requirements:  Duty weapon and support gear.  250 rounds of FRANIGIBLE AMMO, (franigible ammo will be available for sale at the Academy). Proper range attire including a brimmed hat, eye and ear protection, body armor and a positive winning attitude.

Building Shotgun Skills
Mike Boyle
, NJ Division of Fish & Wildlife
Course description: This block of instruction will focus on the skills required to efficiently operate the combat shotgun under stress.  Live fire drills will consist of single and multiple threats, close quarters confrontation and shooting on the move.  Gun handling skills such as combat loading, working from ready positions, transition to the handgun will also be refined.

Instructor Bio: Mike Boyle is a Captain with the NJ Division of Fish & Wildlife, Bureau of Law Enforcement and has over 25 years experience as a firearms instructor.  Mike is a Police Academy Instructor, Rangemaster and the Assistant Police Academy Director and currently serves on the Board of Directors of IALEFI®

Quick Draw Ground System
Joe Maffei, Integrated Martial Development Center
Course description:  This block of instruction will provide the student with a viable means of defending and accessing their firearms during a violent ground fight.  Many confrontations, involving law enforcement officers end up on the ground.  Techniques taught are designed to work against opponents who are much bigger and stronger.

Instructor Bio: Joe Maffei has been a practitioner of defensive tactics and martial arts for more than 30 years.  He operates his own training facility in Waltham, MA, he has coached students to two world titles in mixed martial arts.  Joe has also trained law enforcement officers from state, local, military, and various elite federal agencies
